MACHINES AND THE SUBJECT: How Technology and Social Media Shape the Contemporary Subject

Abstract

With the purpose of comprehending the individual and its singularity, aiming the interactions of the social environment in which is inserted. The present study proposes to think how this person is loosing its subjectivity, through technological advances and to this condition of modern society that inserts it. In the conceptual construction of this search, were used as reference authors such as: Sigmund Freud, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, Byung Chul Han and George Orwell. It is a qualitative search, in which was utilized the Literature Revision Method. The results pointed, according to Byung Chul Han’s writings, that the internet brings benefits to its users, however, used wrongly, will keep imprisioning internet users, prejudicing, therefore, their subjectivity.
