The Suicide in retrospect: a case analysis

Abstract

Psychological autopsy is a fundamental scientific research tool to carry out a retrospective analysis of the decision of some individuals to carry out suicide, based on collections of information about the victim's life and the circumstances and factors surrounding the death. This article aims to understand the psychosocial and family dynamics that preceded the suicidal act, as it is understood that all this unpreparedness and lack of response can generate a lot of distress and anguish for the deceased's family and friends. Thus, for the construction of this qualitative descriptive study, six semi-structured interviews were carried out with close relatives who volunteered to report the facts related to the suicidal act. The instrument created was used to analyze the cases presented in this research.
