O USO DE SEMAGLUTIDA (ANÁLOGO DE GLP-1) COMO COADJUVANTE NO CONTROLE DA OBESIDADE
Abstract
ABSTRACT: Obesity is considered an important public health problem and is the subject of debates and scientific research in contemporary times. In an effort to minimize the problem, doctors and patients have been using drugs to help with weight loss, concomitantly with lifestyle changes through healthy habits. Among the drugs available on the market, semaglutide is the one that has shown greater relevance in recent years, due to the benefits it has been showing and is, for the present bibliographical study, the central focus of discussion. Thus, the question is: what is the effectiveness of semaglutide as a coadjuvant in the loss and control of weight and overweight? To respond to the research problem, the objective is to report the benefits and adverse effects of the use of semaglutide, an analogue of the endogenous hormone GLP-1, in the reduction and maintenance of weight loss in obese adults. A better understanding of the use of semaglutide in Brazil is needed, since it is an off-label drug.
