Abstract

Over the years, with the constant growth of new processes and technologies that involve all sectors of the economy, companies have begun to realize that there is a real need to seek new strategies as a source to face competitiveness, in a way that allows them to remain alive and active in the economic sector where they operate. Given this perception, strategic people management is the main gear for valuing human capital to face the globalized world. To this end, the research aims to analyze the importance of human capital for organizations, and is based on the following guiding question: In view of the processes of change in the different areas of the country's economy, which are demanding adaptations and consistent strategies from organizations, how can companies use the valorization of human capital as a competitive strategy? Based on this scenario, this theoretical article sought to carry out a theoretical and literary review within the scope of people and strategic management, with the aim of understanding its role in the current organizational situation. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to present the importance of valuing human capital and strategic management as a competitive advantage in the market. It is concluded that people are fundamental pieces and essences in any business area, in any field of activity, as companies need people at all stages, from the creation and elaboration of an organization, until the moment when the develop, since it is the people who work to contribute to improvements. In this context, the research results demonstrated that for innovation processes to take place within companies, management and an organizational structure based on the appreciation of professionals are necessary, in order to encourage them to make changes that are positive and profitable. And that the success of companies and the achievement of desired objectives are directly linked to the ability of organizations to value their human capital.
